SEO For All Seasons January 9, 2006

(Visited 11504 times)

If you’ve covered industries that are in demand for all 12 months, consider diversifying your site portfolio to address seasonal demand spikes. Graywolf gives a few topic niches if you want to address the US market. Think ‘Halloween costumes’ (November), ’swimsuits’ (summer months) and ‘wedding rings’ (June).

If you’re going after the US-based Filipino market, you should consider positioning sites that can corner the demand for goods for the following dates:

  1. Valentines Day - huge demand spike for flowers, chocolates, sappy heart shaped gifts, etc.; if you missed your anniversary (or monthsary for the hopeless romantics) this is your chance to maintain ‘good relations’ or to start one; have an affiliate gift site ready.
  2. Mother’s Day - for those guilty of not sending enough money home, this is their chance to make up (your next chance to make up would be her birthday); same affiliate gift site above will do.
  3. Father’s Day - same reason, but I think dads prefer receiving money so best you have a money remitance affiliate site.
  4. Christmas - the mother of all demand spikes. If your site’s positioned effectively, customers may come back to transact again for events 1 to 3

Seasonal vs Perennial Traffic…

Does your SEO project have what it takes to cover market demands for all 12 months? Have you optimized the site for ’seasonal’ or ‘perennial’ traffic?……

Another interesting topic! This gives me an idea of themeing a site in accordance with the season-the themeing maybe automated changes in layout and content depending on date ranges. Thank you!
