Trafik, anyone? January 26, 2006
(Visited 14099 times)Face it. Filipinos may be good conversationalists but when it comes to spelling, we are mentally challenged. With a native tongue that’s evolved from tagalog to taglish, combined with the emergence of sms language (we won’t be called the “number one texting country” for nothing, would we?), our vocabulary has turned into a mesh of mispelled words.
I know, I know. Filipinos are not really ashamed of this little known detail, in fact, we’re most likely to dismiss it with a laugh. But hey, now we can laugh about it and turn it to our advantage at the same time.
Aaron Wall calls spelling errors an advanced SEO technique. Apparently, he’s not ashamed to admit of his spelling booboos too, as some of his misspelled words surprisingly earned him thousands of dollars. And he’s not the only SEO guru who spoke of the wonders of bad spelling in acquiring search engine traffic. Blackhatseo had his share of the cake too. He says typo-spam is considered high class spam even by search engines.
Indeed, not everyone is a good speller, as Eric Giguere puts it. Many searches are done using mispelled keywords, because of varied reasons. It could be that the user typed too quickly and missed out a letter or two. Or he simply couldn’t spell, period. Since we’re all imperfect creatures capable of committing mistakes (unconsciously or in complete ignorance), think how large your market can be.
Suffice it to say, bad spellings may cost you red marks on your school papers, but in the world wide web, it may cost you competitive traffic, and some extra dough on the side.
So.. are you fur in inglesh sfeling? Be proud, and take it to your advantage. :)

Hello Everyone,
I red to story above and must say that our firm for 3 years outsource search engine optimization services to JNB Web Promotion with great results and satisfied clients in the US. About English, we have good response from them. I like to share this to all readers, Filipino’s are good in English, we have noticed that with all communications with JNB Web Promotion in the Philippines.
This is interesting. Funny but I think days from now, webmasters will include misspelled keywords on their meta tags.
