I can see the PR everywhere! April 19, 2006
(Visited 51529 times)Before I start, even if I was not at the iBlog event, I got some people there that told me a bunch of stuff about it, and just want to congratulate Marc again for a good job and I will quote what my buddie Mike lopez said to me via IM: “Although Marc Macalua’s talk was 15 minutes only, it was very good.”
Ok, now let’s talk about PR, and why this title I can see PR everywhere! I know there are a lot of PR tools left and right. You can find a gazillion of them online. And yes, a lot of them work, mostly every one I tried worked. But a colleague of mine at work, Camron Deen found this cool one and pointed it out to me and I have been using this PR tool out of all the PR tools out there. It is the Webmaster Eyes!
I like this PR tool, because once you type in the URL, it will load the page in a frame and place all the PR of the links of that page. And if you click on the PR that appears on the page, it will visit the next page and show the PR for those links too. So you can continue browsing and browsing all these pages and see their PR everywhere.
And here is once observation I noticed while using this PR tool. I compared two sites of mine:
- Benj’s Busy Life
Has PR 2
Long permalinks.
Does not use Greg/Dax’ Subdomain Plugin - Action Online
Has PR 5
Same permalnk structure as Benj’s Busy Blog
Uses Greg/Dax’ Subdomain Plugin
If you check both sites using the Webmaster Eyes tool, each category on Benj’s Busy Blog has a PR Zero. And on Action Online, each category has a PR 3. And since Action Online runs the Wordpress Subdomain Plugin (I think it is starting to become obvious I am a Greg Boser fan LOLz.) every category is on a subdomain. And Google treats each subdomain as a separate website. That is like having inbound and outbound links right there between websites just because they are on different subdomains. Just with the plugin, it makes all main categories into subdomains.
Links to other related stuff:
- Wildcard DNS Setup on cPanel Servers
To use the Wordpress Subdomain Plugin you need to have wildcard DNS enabled for that hosting account. Here that site is how to use enable wildcard DNS on cPanel servers.
- Google Sitemap Cleaner
If you used the Wordpress Google Sitemap Plugin and the Subdomain Plugin at the same time, you get URL submission errors with Google Sitemap. And to solve that problem, the sitemap cleaner can take care of it.
